Vanessa Blair-Alvarez, Power Yoga Instructor
A fast paced asana practice based on Ashtanga style taught by K. Pattabhi Jois. This style of yoga has a strong focalization on the breath in movement, which during class is strictly ujjayi breathing.
This breathing style in movement goes hand in hand with the mind body discovering its connection. Finding our own truth during our practices together is what I hope for my students as I have and continue to find with every day of my practice.
In 1995 I experienced my first training with Gurmukh in a Kundalini class. It was so difficult that I decided to try another type of yoga when the first Yogaworks studio opened up right next to where I lived. I began practicing their Hatha style of yoga which I enjoyed. It was in 1998 that I discovered Bryan Kest and his style of Power Yoga. I have been practicing it ever since and I love it for everything it has opened up for me.
In 2002, I took his teachers training in Santa Monica and again in Tulum, Mexico.
I began teaching in the fall of 2002 in Los Angeles. Then I came to Saint Tropez in summer of 2003 and I began to work with various 4 and 5 star hotels in the region teaching only private classes.
In the winter 2014 I did a teacher training of Kundalini Yoga at Golden Bridge Centre in California while back in the US for several months.
In the 13 years of teaching and 20 years of practicing, I have continued to build my knowledge of my own truth and peace through yoga.
Yoga is an ever evolving awakening of my spirituality and the love that infuses my life.
